Fascinating Queen Bees! 🐝
September 14 2024 – Honey Store
Queen Bees are the mother of most, if not all, of the bees in the hive. Queens are created when the hive selects certain larvae to feed royal jelly, which helps the larvae develop ovaries. Once she emerges she will kill any other potential Queen bees and run the hive.
The Queen bee is the only member of the hive that is responsible for laying eggs. She will also be in charge of work assignments, population balance and direct the behavior of the entire colony. She can lay up to 200,000 eggs a year!
The Queen is the most essential member of the colony and the entire hive depends on her for colony survival. She is a big deal!!!
